Xiang ZHOU

Xiang Zhou is an Associate Research Fellow at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a Recipient of the Guangdong Province's Top Young Talents Program, the Youth Project of the Hundred Talents Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and has been selected for the Shenzhen Pengcheng Peacock Plan (Category B).He pioneered research demonstrating that mechanical stress is essential for pollen tube cell wall integrity and fertility. Dr. Zhou has authored more than 7 SCI-indexed publications, which have garnered over 550 citations. As first or co-first author, he has published papers in high-impact journals includingDevelopmental Cell, Cell, and PNAS.


Research Areas

Agricultural Synthetic Biology and Biomanufacturing:

①Mechanisms of plant cell perception and transduction of extracellular signals;

②Analysis of regulatory mechanisms underlying floral structure and development in soybean, and development of cross-pollinating flower traits for hybrid vigor utilization;

③Development of a soybean seed-based bioreactor chassis for high-efficiency recombinant protein synthesis

④Regulatory mechanisms and applications of plant sexual reproduction (includingdistant hybridizationand haploid induction);

⑤Breeding of high-yield, high-protein duckweed strains for alternative protein production.
